OGDEN — The Ogden Fire Department is investigating after a house fire caused $300,000 in damages on Thursday morning.

Fire crews responded to a structure fire near the 1000 block of 2nd Street around 9:40 a.m., according to a release from the Ogden Fire Department.

"Upon arrival, units discovered smoke and flame coming from the garage of a single-family home. Firefighters acted swiftly and aggressively to contain the blaze to the main level of the home," the release says.

Initial reports suggest a resident had been inside the home, but firefighters quickly determined all residents were safely outside.

"Due to the rapid response and coordinated efforts of the crews on scene, the fire was successfully confined to the structure of origin. A total of 22 firefighters from the Ogden City Fire Department and Weber Fire District responded," the release says.

Investigators are working to determine what sparked the fire.
