OREM — One man was shot and killed by police on Monday night while officers were serving a search warrant.

The Utah County Sheriff's Office says the Major Crimes Task Force was serving a warrant near 400 North and 800 East at about 11:30 p.m.

"During the service of the search warrant, shots were fired and a suspect was injured," according to a prepared statement from the sheriff's office. "Orem emergency medical services arrived and took over lifesaving measures of the suspect, who was later pronounced deceased on scene."

No officers were injured. Details about what prompted officers to shoot were not immediately released, nor was any information about the man who was shot.

An officer-involved critical incident protocol was invoked, and an outside agency is investigating the shooting.
