WEST BOUNTIFUL — Both the individual and team titles came down to a single stroke at the Utah 3A girls golf state meet.

Providence Hall's Paige Anae held off Morgan's Jane Poll in a playoff for medalist honors, and Juan Diego edged the Trojans by a single stroke to claim their first team championship Thursday at Lakeside Golf Course.

Soaring Eagle freshman Ava Werner shot 9-over-par 80 to tie teammate Sabrina Macias for fourth place to lead Juan Diego, which placed all five scoring golfers inside the top-20.

Poll rebounded to shoot 1-over 72 in the second round to tie Anae, who shot 76-77 to top the individual leaderboard after 36 holes. But the Providence Hall freshman carded even-par on the par-4, 315-yard 18th hole to take medalist honors after ann extra frame.

Poll finished second, followed by Richfield's Shelby Gardner in third.

4A girls golf: Runner-up Walker paces Crimson Cliffs to 1st title

Kate Walker's high school career has included a pair of medalist honors and a top-seven individual scoring round in state history when she shot 65 at TalonsCove a year ago.

But the Utah Tech commit added a career-first Thursday afternoon.

Walker shot 1-under-par 70 to finish with a two-day total of 1-over 143 for runner-up honors as three Crimson Cliffs golfers finished in the top-10 to clinch the Mustangs' first 4A team title in program history at Southgate Golf Course in St. George.

Orem's Kaylee Westfall shot 69-67 for a two-day total of 6-under 136 to cruise to individual medalist honors by seven strokes.

Beyond Walker, a senior, Crimson Cliffs sophomore shot 72 Thursday to finish third at 4-over 146. Pine View's Molli Mulhall and Cedar teammates Taylyn Wilson and Breele Evans rounded out the top five.

Brynlee Bandley finished eighth for Crimson Cliffs to add another top-10 finish for the Mustangs to win the team title by 21 strokes over second-place Ridgeline.
