POCATELLO — What began as a Saturday outing for breakfast and toy shopping turned tragic for the family of 3-year-old Kamari Jade Alvarez, of American Falls, Idaho. Kamari was struck by a Dodge Ram about 2:20 p.m. in the Costco parking lot and was taken to Portneuf Medical Center, where she died from her injuries.
Now, fundraisers are underway to help the family pay for expenses and navigate their way through this unimaginable tragedy.

3-year-old hit, killed in Costco parking lot
A 3-year-old girl was hit by a car and killed at a Costco parking lot in Pocatello on Saturday.Jorge Luis, Kamari's uncle, said the little girl loved going out to breakfast and loved Barbie dolls. Before the accident, she got to go enjoy her favorite breakfast at McDonald's and pick out some Barbies at the second-hand store with family and her 8-year-old sister, whom she adored.
"Kamari was just such a sweet, happy, joyful little girl," said Luis. "She loved stuffed animals, especially her stuffed Mickey Mouse toy, her Barbies, and jumping on the trampoline with her sister."
Luis has launched a GoFundMe with a goal of raising $5,000 to help cover expenses. Donations are also being accepted directly through Wilks Funeral Home in Chubbuck.
He said these were the only legitimate fundraising efforts and urged people to be cautious of Facebook posts promoting Venmo donations, as scammers have cloned the account.
Luis stressed that no one was at fault in the accident. Pocatello police told EastIdahoNews.com that no additional information will be released on the accident at this time.
On behalf of Kamari's family, Luis expressed gratitude for the outpouring of prayers, love, and support shown to them during their unimaginable loss. Kamari's funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, May 31.
