BEIJING — Dozens of tourists at a China zoo got more than they bargained for when they were observing a hippo.

The hippo Zhu Mei was just minding her business when she felt a sensation most people can relate to after eating greasy food.

So, while dozens of unsuspecting zoo attendees were admiring the magnificent creature, Zhu Mei turned her backside to the people and let it rip.

At least one person saw it coming and started to warn everyone else, but it was too late for most to get out of the way before a a six-second-long fart escaped, dousing the crowd in noxious fumes. A video from NEXTA TV shows the crowd hastily backing up after the hippo lets it loose.

Zoo officials did not issue an official apology, but they did place a warning sign near the enclosure that reads: "Caution: May Fire Without Warning," according to the page Independent Facts on social media.

While hippos may appear to be gentle, oversized beings that enjoy lying in the sun and relaxing in the water, they can be quite aggressive. Not only do you need to be afraid they may attack you with their massive jaws and brute strength, but it is imperative to be aware of their deadly smelling flatulence.
